I know what all of you are thinking. "Why the heck is he making a post about WoW release?" But it actually relates to GW2 so stick with me. I was watching the TV and I saw an add for the new WoW (I Think it is called Catalyst) and it said the release date is Dec 7. So why is this good news for us? Because it puts more urgency to GW2. They want to release it so that catalyst doesn't take the gaming market away from them. Now I am not expecting them to release it before Dec. 7. But I am sure a lot of people would give up this GW2 wait and go for the new WoW (I would never do that). But Arena Net knows this so they will want to maybe not release it but shoot out information like crazy now ESPECIALLY THE RELEASE DATE. If they put a dat out it will make people go "Oh OK I will wait for that and not get the WoW game." Because if they get the WoW game they most likly wont get the GW2 game. Most people dont like playingtwo mmorpg's at once. Now you all are also probably also thinking well there is hardly enough info out. But I would imagine that come aroung close to the end pof november (nearing Dec) they will shoot out big Info weekly or maybe do only acouple big update. I promice guys this WoW release is good news for us. I can feel it.

Well its called Cataclysm but I like how you called it Catalyst as if what you described happens it will essentially act like a catalyst, as in speed up the reaction but not get used up in the process (wow will never die).

Yah WoW will never go away. But they will probably take a huge blow from GW2 coming out. I bet you there subscrition fees will become cheaper.

I honestly don't think Cataclysm will make ANet go any faster. The die-hard fans will still be patient for GW2. They may release a profession or two around that time to get people excited again, or perhaps some other important info, but I don't they will go all out.

I think they will stick to how they've always done and just take things steadily so that they don't do a rush job of it. I'd prefer them to stick to that philosophy.

I also don't think WoWs submission will become cheaper. They know they have the biggest user-base of any MMO and that those players will continue to play at the same price, so they don't need to lower the fee. I think Blizzard are confident that they don't need to change anything major to steal any fire from Guild Wars 2.

Yea I have to agree with Aissa, i think they would want to space themselves from wow especially after they launched GW1 right next to wow which impacted their sales.

ArenaNet has have the policy ’it’s done when it’s done’ whole time so I don’t think it will change.
WoW will exist long time but this game will take lot players from it.

I do think Gw2 is a threat to the current generation in the Wow franchise.  Guild wars 2 is set to be the second biggest fantasy MMORPG out there and can blizzard complete with free?

I know, I know im really optimistic but even if some wow players have a break from wow for say 2 or 3 months and give Gw2 a try thats money Blizzard lost to a competitor.

Its not really related but when I was 17 in high school Guild wars was released about 6 months after Wow and I think in that day and age Wow really got people to look at MMORPG's differently and casual gamers got into MMORPG gaming.

Wows release was good for the whole industry. In these current times I dont think Cataclysm will have the same effect on the industry.

I think it's a good thing that GW2 is being released next week and that the folks at Anet can take their time. Trying to go head to head with WoW is crazy, but once people get their fill of the usual Blizzard grind and woohoo! five whole levels and new dungeons! and the same boring crap, that they will be more than willing and ready to get to a quality game like GW2.

I think the longer they wait to release GW2 the more content they can add and offer to its player. Even though i'm super excited (like uber hardcore excited) for GW2 I really hope they release it either before, during or after the summer seasons so the the excitement (or whatever the right word would be) of WoW cataclysm will dissipate.

They can't really release it any other time than before, during or after! :p I know what you mean though. WoW will have its time and Guild Wars 2 will come rushing in to take the gaming world by storm!

Unfortunately, I'd have to disagree with you there Cap.  The release of Cataclysm will continue to pump blood into the WoW behemoth for another few months.  The hype of 13 million subscribers (or over) is enough to bury any interest players would have in Guild Wars 2.

If they're smart, ArenaNet will delay the release of Guild Wars 2 to second or third quarter of 2011 at least to prevent being overshadowed at the release date.
