I didn't see a discussion about level cap so i decided to start one. So i just wanted to what you peeps think the level cap would be? Unless they already released that and I'm typing this for nothing. {{Redean: Changed this to Leveling Discussion to keep thread going}} |

If I remember correctly the level cap will be 80 (at this point). Time between each level should take about the same from the first level to the last level, meaning that you won’t blaze through the first levels and take forever on the later. I don't know how that will work out but I think that level cap could be higher 100 perhaps. |

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2#Characters Level cap is initially 80, though whether this will stay constant (as in GW1) or change as more content is added (like WoW) has not been stated. Personally, I'm not sure about the raise. I liked being limited at level 20, it was a reasonable skill level, but I'll have to try the new cap for myself before making any judgement. |

I think the new leveling system sounds good, it doesn't take 3 and a half eternities to get to the level cap, while still being a fair accomplishment. |

I did like the non-competitive aspect of the 20 level cap as it meant I didn't worry about trying to grind levels. That's a thing I see with the raise to 80 is that I might try to get to the cap as fast as I can. On the other hand, I think they introduced a higher cap simply to distinguish between areas of different difficulties – in GW there wasn't much difference in difficulty from 15 to 20, so I think with more levels it will be easier to tell where you are more suited. Also, since the efficacy of your weapons increases with level I think it stands to reason that there should be more than 20 levels. It's a more incremental and gradual change than it would be to get the same efficacy in only 20 levels. |

Isn't there a point when you stop becoming better though? I thought they said that eventually the benefits of levelling up would reach a plateau, in which case the fact there are actually more levels seems to be a bit weird? :S |

Not sure about that – if you're right then the extra levels do seem a little pointless. |

I think to level up it will take more xp as you get higher but the stuff you fight and the events you do will give you more xp so you'll level up at the same speed. If tht makes sence. |

I think they were referring to the time it takes to lvl would reach a plateau, otherwise it'd just be a pointless number s: I'm in favor of large lvl caps, adds a constant side quest that everything contributes to ^^ edit: I was just going through some other sites and found a link to here: http://www.gamerzines.com/pc/magazine.html |

They have said time to level shouldn't increase very much at all as you go through the levels. |

one thing that i always though was a bit dull was the forever GW level cap of 20 |

The point of that was that levels didn't matter and you weren't grinding to reach the highest level. I thought 20 was fine. I wasn't pressured into trying to get the highest level. If you have 140k exp at level 20 where does 10.5mil exp put me? Anyone good at calculating virtual levels? |
