Ok so we've had favourite films and music tastes, so I thought we might as well have one for the written word too! For me, I like crime/thrillers and Fantasy books. My favourite authors are currently Lee Child, Agatha Christie and Terry Pratchett.

I never really got into the Thomas Covenant books. My parents were big fans, but I didn't get more than a third of the way through the first one. I probably should try again.. :< |

I've recently come upon a copy of Ghosts of Ascalon and find the story really good. Also got my hands on the 9th book in the Malazan series (mentioned in my list above) and can't wait to start reading it! |

I said the story is good. I do find myself picking it apart a lot though :/ I nearly threw the book out ofthe window the other day when I read the word 'flowage.' Nowhere in the English language has that ever been a word xD I also don't like the use of 'gotten', 'off of', 'a couple…' (instead of 'a couple of…') and the insane amounts of the use of 'said' in the dialogue. But I understand that some of those are just Americanisms, so that is excusable. Saying all this (and that the book is simplistically written,) it has a compelling story and the details about the world are pretty good. It gives a good visual idea of what the world around Ascalon looks like. |

I'm not sure you quite picked up on my interpreting your sentence as a double entendre ;D
And yeah, I think I raised the writing style as my biggest issue with the book. Story was good, but I just didn't like how it was told. |

Well be glad that the pattern so far is that they the change the author for each book, surely they will come across an author with a writing style that you will enjoy ;D |
