NCSoft, who for those who dont know is Guild wars game publisher has released some sale information. As of this month Guild wars and its campaigns has sold 6.5 million copys world wide since its release 5 years ago with half of the sales being in Europe.

It’s now official; the Necromancer has made a return in Guild Wars 2!

“A necromancer is a practitioner of the dark arts who summons the dead, wields the power of lost souls, and literally sucks the lifeblood of the enemy. A necromancer feeds on life force, which he can use to cheat death or bring allies back from the brink.

A necromancer feeds on death and decay. Life force is the energy that a necromancer uses to extend his own life. Using specific skills, a necromancer builds up life force by attacking and killing enemies. Rather than going into a downed state when he runs out of health, a necromancer automatically activates the Death Shroud ability. A necromancer can continue fighting in the ghostly Death Shroud form until he either runs out of life force or he gets a kill, rallying back into his own corpse.”

Today I found a great set of videos with the ArenaNet staff giving a run through their Guild Wars 2 demo at Gamescom. The camera work isn’t the greatest and its a little hard to hear in places but it’s about the best i’ve seen so far and gives a decent view on how the game actually plays, as isn’t that what we all want to see?

The Necromancer profession has been flung round a lot lately.

In the recent Guild Wars 2 lore book “Ghosts of Ascalon” the sylvari Killeen is clearly stated as a Necromancer and uses death like spells and animates the dead; very Necromantic indeed. Also in the Guild Wars 2 demo at GamesCom the Necromancer profession was available alongside Warrior, Ranger and Elementalist.
